Scuba Educators International (SEI) is committed to maintaining the highest standards in diver education and safety. As part of our ongoing mission to reflect the evolving needs of the dive community, we periodically review and update our training protocols through thoughtful discussion and consensus with our leadership team.
We are pleased to announce a revision to the Open Water Diver standard, effective October 27, 2025.
This updated standard incorporates the latest best practices in diver safety, instruction, and accessibility. All Open Water Diver courses must now adhere to this revised standard. If a course was initiated prior to this release, instructors are required to complete the confined water and open water portions using the updated guidelines.
We recognize that this change may require additional coordination and staffing, and we appreciate your flexibility and dedication during this transition. Our goal is to ensure that every diver receives the most current and comprehensive training possible.
